Music is so personal.  It can pump you up, calm you down, make you feel horrible, wonderful, in love with love or be an impetus for worship.

Obviously, I could never catalog all good music.  On this page, I will attempt to offer some suggestions of pieces that could be a springboard into a new genre for you.

A lot of the  Classical Music can be found in the library or at popular music stores for very little money.  There are also some sites that will let you listen to the music for free.  One really great one is youtube where you can see performances of these pieces to help decide which to add to your Classical Music Library.

Classical Music

(for our purposes, music without words)

For this section we will split the music into categories based on time periods.  There are earlier time periods such as Medieval/Gothic and Renaissance.  We will concentrate on the following areas.  Please see other sites for a more in-depth knowledge.  MF Files has a wonderful section on the history of Western Classical Music and the difference between the various time periods.

With the advent of Movies came the genre of Movie Music.  This genre is so rich and moving.  Again, I have no ability to catalog all of the music (the site Sound track DB does an excellent job) but I have listed some of my favorite works.
